Welcome!

Welcome to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in East Moline! We are an Orthodox Christian church in the Quad Cities under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The Orthodox Church understands itself as the church established by our Lord and His apostles in the pages of the New Testament. Through its life and worship, the Orthodox Church strives to cultivate in the faithful a Christian way of life and depth of spirituality that is in accordance with the teachings and traditions handed down by our Lord to His disciples, and in continuity with them the saints throughout the ages.

Our worship services are conducted primarily in English, with some Greek (which has been preserved in the Orthodox Church as an ancient liturgical language of the East, similar to Latin in the Western tradition).

If you will be joining us as a first-time guest, we welcome you! Please feel at home. Worship in the Orthodox Church is meant to be majestic and prayerful but not rigid or stressful. You are welcome and invited to contact our parish priest, if you may have questions either before or after you visit. Father will be happy to answer any questions and to make your acquaintance.
